Trump to attend Bush’s funeral, won’t deliver eulogy

George W. and Laura Bush entered first, and the former president put his hand on the flag-draped casket holding the remains of his father.

Bush will lie in repose at St. Martin's Episcopal Church before burial at his family plot on the presidential library grounds at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Although President Donald Trump will attend Bush's national funeral service Wednesday, he is not among the eulogists announced by the Bush family, a list that includes George W. Bush.

The honorary pallbearers in Washington - for both Bush's entry into the Rotunda and the National Cathedral - will be Navy captains and admirals who have commanded the USS George H.W. Bush and members of the carrier strike group.

From 6:45 pm until Thursday at 6 am, the public is invited to pay their final respects to President Bush as his body lies in repose.

He also presided over the end of the Cold War between the United States and the former Soviet Union.

He died Friday at age 94.

Bush was a decorated World War II fighter pilot, one-time ambassador to China, former head of the Central Intelligence Agency, and vice president to Ronald Reagan before winning the White House.

The dog was assigned earlier this year as a service dog to Bush, who used a wheelchair in the last years of his life.

Although Trump and his name were absent during eulogies for McCain in September, the president's presence appeared to resonate through the emotionally charged speeches from numerous late senator's mourners, including McCain's daughter.
