'It was very hurtful' - David Warner's wife defends husband's sledging flee

David Warner, the disgraced former Australian Test vice-captain, has created more headlines Down Under today as he briefly left the field during a grade cricket match for his club Randwick-Petersham.

"Warner who was former teammates and good friends with Phillip stormed off the pitch reportedly telling the umpire 'I'm removing myself from the game".

Batting for Randwick-Petersham against Western Suburbs, Warner walked off the field while on 35 after an apparent sledge from Jason Hughes - the brother of deceased batsman Phil. It was very hurtful'.

What was said yesterday went too far.

Later in the day, however, Wests insisted there had been no abuse towards Warner.
