  • Jamal Khashoggi in Manama Bahrain. Turkey claims that Khashoggi who wrote for The Washington Post was killed inside a Saudi diplomatic mission in Turkey

In an interview with "60 Minutes" airing Sunday, US President Donald Trump pledged "severe punishment" if the US concludes that Saudi agents killed Khashoggi, a US resident, and said that the incident is being investigated.

The source said the Kingdom's government and its people are steadfast, glorious as ever, no matter whatever the pressures and circumstances might be.

Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist, was last heard from on October 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to gather some documents for his upcoming wedding.

Royals to visit Melbourne on Day 3
Meghan and Harry arrived in Melbourne after their aeroplane touched down following a one-and-a-half hour flight from Sydney. One of the children was an adorable 5-year-old boy named Luke Vincent , who seemed to be infatuated with the couple .

In a joint statement, Jeremy Hunt, Jean-Yves Le Drian and Heiko Maas said: "There needs to be a credible investigation to establish the truth about what happened, and - if relevant - to identify those bearing responsibility for the disappearance of Khashoggi and ensure that they are held to account". "We have nothing to hide", he said. The sales are a "tremendous order for our companies", and if the Saudis don't buy their weaponry from the USA, they will get it from others, he said.

Saudi Arabia has responded by saying it would retaliate against any pressure or economic sanctions "with greater action", and Arab allies rallied to support it, setting up a potential showdown between the global oil superpower and its main Western allies.

"The Kingdom affirms its total rejection of any threats and attempts to undermine it, whether by threatening to impose economic sanctions, using political pressures, or repeating false accusations that will not undermine the Kingdom and its staunch positions and Arab, Islamic and worldwide status", the ministry added.

The statement did not elaborate. But it's not clear what those will entail, particularly if countries change their relationships with Saudi Arabia.
