"I think we shouldn't step in the way of" Thursday's meeting between Trump and Rosenstein. I would certainly prefer [not firing him].

Mr. Trump said he would "much rather keep" Rosenstein in charge of the special counsel investigation.

Rosenstein reportedly also suggested invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office previous year.

Luka Modric beats Ronaldo and Messi for world footballer of the year
Mohamed Salah took the 2017/18 Puskás Award at FIFA's The Best Ceremony in London on Monday everning. Ronaldo, the victor of the award the previous two years, finished second to Modric .

Trump, during a wide-ranging news conference following a gathering of the United Nations General Assembly, also told reporters that he may delay a scheduled Thursday meeting with Rosenstein to discuss his tenure so as not to interfere with a Senate hearing where Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is slated to confront allegations of sexual assault. While it remains unclear what will happen, White House officials have said Trump likely won't fire Rosenstein until after the midterm elections, and Justice Department officials have said they are skeptical Rosenstein will quit now.

Rosenstein's job has been in the balance since last week, after it was reported that former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe memorialized meetings in which he claimed Rosenstein broached the idea of wiretapping the president, or using a constitutional amendment to drive him out as commander-in-chief.

But the meeting may be postponed.

Russian Federation agrees to supply Syria with missile defense system
Shoigu said it was one of the counter-measures to maintain security in Syria's airspace after the loss of the Ilyushin-20 plane. Earlier in the war, Russian Federation suspended a supply of S-300, which Israel feared Syria could use against it.

President Trump said Wednesday that his "preference" is to keep the deputy attorney general while he is overseeing the special counsel's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.

Rosenstein appointed Mueller in May 2017, oversees his work and has repeatedly defended the breadth and scope of the probe. A person present at that meeting said he was joking, but the New York Times, which first reported the incident on Friday, cited secondhand accounts indicating Rosenstein was serious. Some reports suggest that Mueller himself has investigated Trump's behavior, including his tweets, with respect to an obstruction probe. He framed the reports about Rosenstein as a "set-up".

Trump scheduled the meeting with Rosenstein to discuss his professional fate - and perhaps the future of the investigation into Russia's election interference in 2016. "And we'll see", he said at a news conference, when asked if he would fire Rosenstein.
