Corbyn would back members on second referendum

  • Wait and see British Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn

He joined the chorus of union and Labour figures calling for a general election, saying a Government led by Jeremy Corbyn would strike a deal with EU leaders that would unite the nation. As delegates gathered, one message was emblazoned on hundreds of T-shirts and tote bags: "Love Corbyn, Hate Brexit".

"Some have said Labour could vote for any deal the Tories reach".

And he will issue a message to Mrs May: "If your party wants to tear itself apart, that's fine, but you're not taking our country with you".

"Labour have to come to a decision".

Later Tuesday, the conference will formally vote on a motion on "all options remaining on the table", including the possibility of a second referendum.

Up to now, he has been objecting a new "People's vote" on the UK's decision to leave the European Union.

ABC staff are rounding on ousted boss Michelle Guthrie
Mr Anderson stepped into the top job following the abrupt dismissal of Ms Guthrie yesterday, halfway through her five-year term. Deputy Labor leader Tanya Plibersek said she was perplexed by the decision and the board's statements had not clarified it.

His comments sparked concern among People's Vote supporters who staged a march and rally in Liverpool on the conference's opening day.

100 delegates from trade unions and local parties met with shadow Brexit secretary Keir Starmer on Sunday to draft a two-page document, clearly stating the party's position on Brexit.

Labour MP David Lammy said: "This has been a long fight over many months, many years and I think we are getting somewhere". Once we proved that, they were happy to vote for Labour.

"Obviously I'm bound by the democracy of our party", Corbyn told the BBC.

- Deputy leader Tom Watson will not be speaking from the main platform after failing to agree a satisfactory slot, but he may vent his frustrations with the leadership during a series of appearances on the fringe. "We will vote down a blind Brexit".

But the Labour leader made clear he still believes an early general election is the best way to resolve the political crisis over Britain's withdrawal from the EU.

Trump Defends Court Nominee Kavanaugh: 'I Am With Him All the Way'
This person was allegedly sober at the party and is "100% sure" that it was Brett Kavanaugh about whom he had heard a story. Ramirez has not stated whether she is willing to testify, but she has called for an FBI investigation.

But the way ahead is far from clear and polls show the country is still more or less divided on Brexit - although a narrow majority might now support staying in the EU.

Brexit minister Robin Walker accused Labour of trying to take the United Kingdom "back to square one" and of wanting to re-run the referendum, saying: "Labour promised to respect the referendum result, but are just playing political games and trying to frustrate it".

A source told BBC that there was consensus in the room opposing the Tories' chaotic approach to the Brexit negotiations.

Asked about marathon party talks on the issue, he said: 'We weren't ruling out options and no one was ruling out Remain'. But many of its 257 lawmakers represent areas that supported leaving, so Brexit poses an electoral dilemma for the left-of-center party.

Does it ensure a strong and collaborative future relationship with the EU? The leadership of the Labour Party must continue to listen to them. "And no one has a clue at the moment what is going to happen".

Deselection's have been criticised as being a means to remove critics of Jeremy Corbyn, as pro-Corbyn group Momentum is well-known for mounting deselections. But many Labour lawmakers think his old-fashioned socialism is a turnoff for the wider electorate.
