  • Oxygen masks fall down on plane to Mumbai air pressure mishap

A cockpit mix-up left more than 30 passengers on an Indian plane bleeding from their ears and noses after the crew reportedly forgot to flick a switch regulating cabin air pressure. The airline is making alternative flight arrangements for guests on this flight. "As a result, oxygen masks got deployed", the official at aviation regulator DGCA had said.

Passengers received medical care once the plane had landed back in Mumbai.

An investigation has been launched to look into how the error occurred, while the crew have been taken from their current duties.

As per initial information, out of total 166 passengers, some even complained of headache and oxygen masks were put in use mid-air.

The 9W 697 flight - a Boeing 737 aircraft - had 166 passengers and five crew on board. It added: "All guests were deplaned safely and taken to the terminal".

According to a doctor at Dr Balabhai Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai, five Jet Airways passengers who were on board the flight were suffering from "mild conductive deafness".

Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is conducting an enquiry into the incident.

But the Jet Airways spokeswoman refused to confirm the claim that the crew forgot to press the button.

One of the passengers has tweeted about the whole incident on Twitter and wrote, 'Panic situation due to technical fault in @jetairways 9W 0697 going from Mumbai to Jaipur.

"He has been taken for audiometry test and the hospital will issue a health statement after some time", a spokesperson of the hospital said.
