4 missing, 10 hurt after 2 boats collide, sink on Colorado River

She had been missing since about 8 p.m. Saturday when a northbound Hallet boat carrying 10 people collided with a southbound Sleekcraft with six aboard, officials said.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said the body of 50-year-old Brian Grabowski of Tulare, California, was found around 9 a.m.

Officials identified the victim as Christi Lewis, 51, of California, but released no other information about her.

Three are still missing - two women and one man. Nine people were injured, with two in critical condition, authorities said.

Anita Mortensen, a spokeswoman for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, says none of the boaters were wearing life vests when the collision occurred.

Other recreational boaters in the area helped pull victims from the water.

San Bernardino County Fire District spokesman Eric Sherwin said the missing people are "presumed submerged".

The cause of the accident was under investigation, Schuster said.

Divers were set to search up until sundown on Sunday for the four missing, the sheriff's office said.

One boat sank in the horror collision, which took place in the Moabi Regional Park about 290 miles east of Los Angeles, on Saturday night around 8pm local time.

"Top water and shoreline searches have been conducted and continue to be conducted this point, in addition to dive operations that have been underway for several hours", he told reporters during a Sunday afternoon press conference.

The water carried all of them some distance down the river, some as far as three to five miles from the site of the collision.
