Malcolm Turnbull has rejected claims that changes to his energy policy are aimed at holding off a leadership challenge.

The prime minister defeated ex-Home Affairs minister Peter Dutton 48 votes to 35 in a snap leadership ballot on Tuesday morning, and then appealed for the party to unify.

Mr Turnbull's original energy policy, which was trying to deliver cheaper energy, more reliability and lower emissions, enjoyed broad support - even in his party room.

"Peter Dutton was at our leadership group meeting this morning and he was at the Cabinet last night". "Why, only last Saturday he tweeted to the world ".just to make very clear, the Prime Minister has my support and I support the policies of the government".

Mr. Dutton supporters say the former police drug squad detective could have amassed enough support to successfully challenge for the leadership on Thursday before Parliament takes a two-week break and lawmakers won't gather again until September 10.

It came after a sharp fall in opinion poll ratings and talk of an imminent challenge, which in turn has raised the possibility of an early election.

Nationals Minister Darren Chester said some MPs would "consider their future" if there was a change of leader.

Giuliani accused the special counsel of being "desperate" and leaking McGahn's cooperation "illegally" to the New York Times . Trump has consistently denied Russian Federation colluded with his campaign team during the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The Home Affairs Minister is on Monday expected to attend a scheduled Cabinet meeting, which is likely to also touch on the company tax cuts stand-off.

He also said disunity would "create a real risk that Bill Shorten will become Prime Minister".

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says his government has abandoned plans to set an emissions reduction target in legislation.

Asked what Turnbull said after winning, Marino replied: "This was conducted by way of precedent and he thanked his colleagues for their support and will get on with the business now of governing in the interests of all Australians".

'Where are this prime minister's convictions?' .

According to The Australian, multiple MPs called Mr Peter Dutton over the weekend to promise their support, should he choose to challenge Mr Turnbull.

The party can change their leader at any time, although until recently it was highly unusual for a sitting prime minister to be removed from power.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fired a tame shot at Kepa Arizabalaga in the first minute which was well saved. Petr Cech can continue to start the match, I believe in him.

Dutton jigged around offering any direct answer about whether a new challenge was in the wind.

The Courier-Mail understands Mr McCormack does not hold the support any more in the party room but it is unclear who would win a leadership contest if one was called.

After losing Dutton, a former police officer who ran a powerful department that oversees the country's domestic spy service, border force and national police, quit and moved to the backbench.

Malcolm Turnbull on Monday conceded that he could not get legislation through the House of Representatives where his conservative coalition holds only a single-seat majority.

The coalition has lost 38 successive Newspolls to Labor, eight more than Tony Abbott's record.

"It's a complete capitulation to the right wing members of the Liberal Party of Australia, who want to perpetuate Australia's coal economy", said Robyn Eckersley, Professor and Head of Political Science at University of Melbourne.

A spokesman for Mr Dutton told Ten: "Mr Dutton's legal advice clearly states there is no breach of Section 44". I would like to contribute to public debates.
