  • Ariana Grande's big show and everything else you should know about Monday's Video Music Awards

MTV unveiled the reboot of the series during the MTV Video Music Awards as some of the cast members reunited on the red carpet. Lopez also performed songs like "On the Floor", "Let's Get Loud", and "Ain't Your Mama", along with throwback favorites like "My Love Don't Cost a Thing", "All I Have", and of course, "Jenny From the Block", which she performed on a set that included a 6 line subway train.

With most of music industry's top acts absent - from Beyonce to Bruno Mars - the MTV Video Music Awards lacked star power and felt flat, and some of the winners turned heads - for the wrong reasons. Remember when you thought she sang, "Are you Ellie?" during the "I'm Real" remix with Ja Rule?

MTV took the opportunity at the Video Music Awards Monday to announce the return of one of its most beloved series: "The Hills".

Trump says former campaign chief Manafort "good person"
Lawyers for both the defense and prosecution -as well as Manafort himself - were present in the courtroom as Ellis read the note. Manafort faces the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison if convicted of the more serious charges against him.

During her acceptance speech, Lopez acknowledged just how much MTV meant to her.

"But it wasn't until I had two little angels come into my life that everything changed", she said, referring to her children.

But the singer had to thank her man, Alex Rodriguez, who was watching in rapt attention throughout her incredible performance. But he clearly wasn't the only one who had eyes for her.

Kahne Follows Sadler Into NASCAR Retirement
He's now second in the standings, a spot where he's finished in each of the last two seasons. After six seasons driving for Hendrick, Kahne was a free agent heading into this season.

Of course, the VMAs have always been about "moments" as much as awards themselves, and, as was the case a year ago, these didn't offer a flashpoint like Miley Cyrus twerking or Kanye West barging into a Taylor Swift speech with the immortal words, "I'ma let you finish".

She also seemed to take aim at Nicki Minaj, who while promoting her new album last week said other musicians have hired fans to listen to their music. "Honestly, I dedicate this to Madonna", Camila said. "And they're such a vital part of The Hills that we couldn't do it without them".

There was one posthumous victor: Avicii, who died in April, won for best dance for "Lonely Together" alongside Rita Ora.
