Gunshots fired at United States embassy in the Turkish capital

Amid escalating tension between Washington and Ankara, the United States embassy in the Turkish capital came under attack as unknown persons fired several gunshots at it on Monday.

The U.S. Embassy in Turkey was shot at from a moving auto before dawn on Monday, an attack that came during heightened tensions between the two North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies.

President Erdogan remained defiant ahead of the Muslim feast of Eid al-Adha with another characteristically fiery statement.
