  • When asked if Bangladesh will be willing to take back the illegal citizens staying in India Inu said'As of now India has not shared NRC findings with us and has not raised the issue. Until they do so we will not speak

The government said the draft was not meant to drive people out and those struck out of the list would have a chance to reapply.

Rajya Sabha on Wednesday witnessed uproar by members of the Congres on remarks by BJP chief Amit Shah during the discussion over the National Register for Citizens (NRC) in Assam on Tuesday, forcing adjournment of the House till 1200 hours.

The NRC, first published after the 1951 Census, is now being updated keeping 24 March, 1971, as the cut-off date, to identify those who immigrated to Assam illegally from what is now Bangladesh.

"No genuine Indian citizens need to worry as there will be ample opportunities given to them to enlist their names in the final list", he said in Assam's biggest city Guwahati. Effectively, the goal of the process is to determine who in Assam are genuine Indian citizens and who are illegal immigrants.

Apple is first public company worth $1 trillion
Amazon's market cap stands at around $877 million, while Alphabet's is $851 million and Microsoft is worth about $822 million. A company's market value is calculated by multiplying its current share price by the total number of shares investors hold.

The NRC draft in Assam continues to be heavily debated by the Central government and the Opposition, and the debate between the two was on full show in Rajya Sabha.

The first draft of the NRC, released on December 31, confirmed the citizenship of 19 million people, leading to jubilation for some and heartbreak among others.

The final list, released on Monday, left out almost 40 lakh people, incorporating names of 2.89 crore people out of 3.29 crore applicants.

The migrants included many Hindus, but Modi has issued orders stating that no Hindu or members of other minorities from Pakistan or Bangladesh would be considered an illegal immigrant even if they entered the country without valid documents before 2014. Many, both Hindus and Muslims have apparently established homes and businesses, schools, farms and factories.

"The government must move swiftly to resolve this crisis". He said that it could also reduce the number of MLAs and MPs from minority-dominated constituencies in the state. "This isolation has been done keeping in mind as to who can vote for the BJP and who cannot vote for them", she allged. "Anybody resorting to the social media for materializing their malicious designs of creating discord shall be dealt with stern legal actions", the chief minister said.

On Monday, the NRC released the second and final draft which had 2.89 crore names in total. Several forces, at the worldwide level, are trying to create disorder, saying that updating the NRC is an issue between Muslims and non-Muslims.

"It's a historic day for Assam and India as a whole". I urge the people to stay united to defeat all such evil designs. The issue has become a political flashpoint between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and opposition parties.

"After the final publication, there will be claims, objections and correction procedure and people will be able to avail these services", he added.
