A long-awaited official report into the disappearance of flight MH370 gave no new clues about why the plane vanished, relatives of those on board the aircraft said on Monday, expressing anger and disappointment. Similarly, the plane's loss of communications before veering off track was more likely due to systems "being manually turned off or power interrupted to them" than a malfunction, it said.

Malaysian air safety authorities have declared more than four years after the disappearance of flight MH370 they do not know what caused the plane to crash into the southern Indian Ocean and won't know unless the wreckage is found.

The Boeing 777 plane disappeared on the night of March 8, 2014, with 239 people on board.

"The turn back could not be attributed to an anomalous system", said Kok.

Investigators said the plane was airworthy and the pilots were in a fit state to fly, and dismissed the theory that the plane had been taken over remotely to foil a hijacking. At the time of the crash, the plane had been carrying 221 kg of lithium-ion batteries.

Ms Weeks said she was eagerly awaiting the report and hoped it would be thorough, including containing the plane's manifest, but she was ultimately pessimistic.

Copies of the MH370 briefing report are seen at the press conference in Putrajaya July 30, 2018.

The Malaysian-led report, prepared by a 19-member worldwide team, reiterated the assertion that the plane was deliberately diverted and flown for more than seven hours after severing communications.

Families of those onboard the flight were given the full report to read this morning and have had a briefing with the investigations team.

However, they were unable to determine who was responsible.

"The disappearance of MH370 and the search effort are unprecedented in commercial aviation history", the Malaysian report said Monday.

The next-of-kin who have been hoping for a closure on the MH370 conundrum, and the rest of the world, may have to live with the fact that MH370 could well be one of the greatest enduring mysteries that the world has seen.

Insisting there was no sidelining, Raab said later there was no tension and that he will attend all meetings with May. Mr Baker, who quit the Government over the Chequers plan, said the EU's response was unsurprising.

Despite other attempts to locate debris using satellite imagery and the mapping of ocean drifts, the 1,046-day search was called off on January 17, 2017.

The report documented shortcomings among Kuala Lumpur air traffic controllers: they were too slow to initiate emergency procedures and there was no evidence to suggest they were continuously monitoring radar displays, it said.

It was the second major search after Australia, China and Malaysia ended a fruitless $200 million-search across an area of 120,000 square kilometres past year. However, investigators say they are confident the aircraft was deliberately flown off course and into the Indian Ocean. The plane is believed to have crashed somewhere in the Indian Ocean.

Claims that Hamid's mobile phone was used found that it was only a "heat signal", which Kok said "was just a signal heat to show that the phone was turned on, but there was no call".

One area that came in for criticism in the report by the 19-member team, which included foreign investigators, was air traffic control.

Pieces of aircraft debris found washed up on the coast of east Africa and the French island of Réunion, thousands of kilometers from the likely crash site, were confirmed to be from the Boeing Co.
