Roseanne Barr explains why her tweet against Valerie Jarrett wasn’t racist

  • Roseanne Barr disputes racist claims: 'I'm not that person'

The original Roseanne writers, producers and cast members, excluding Barr, will work on the new show. "I've apologized a lot". I made a mistake and I've paid the price for it.

Roseanne Barr talks with Fox News talk show host Sean Hannity while being interviewed during a taping of his show Thursday in NY.

The rambling interview also covered Barr's mental health, her Jewish upbringing, and her views on Trump, who the actress has said she voted for in the 2016 presidential elections. It was hyped as the superstar comic's first TV interview after ABC dropped one of the highest-rated shows of the last TV season within hours of her posting back in May.

Mr Trump, who had celebrated the comeback ratings for Barr at a campaign rally in March, reacted to her dismissal by complaining that he had never received an apology "for the awful statements made and said about me on ABC".

"I'm like, 'Why can they not see my work.' And then I got really messed up thinking, in this world, it seems more that words matter more than reactions, but in the real life world, actions matter more than words", Barr said.

"Well I already have said I'm sorry for two months", Barr began. "I apologize. I never meant to hurt anybody".

Jeremy Hunt: Only Vladimir Putin would welcome no-deal Brexit
He insisted Britain "can't afford" to crash out of the European Union , and suggested Brexit might need to be delayed beyond next March.

She's apologised since on numerous occasions, but in her first TV interview since the incident, she reiterated her remorse before dropping a casual insult at Jarrett's haircut.

She added that her contract with ABC protected her from any mistakes she were to possibly make.

Barr said she did not know Jarrett was African-American.

She said on Wednesday she did not intend to watch Barr's interview.

Less than a week after Barr posted a YouTube video of herself screaming that she thought the "b-- was white" about Valerie Jarrett - and hours after she filmed Sean Hannity's show - Boteach hosted a conversation with the star at Standup, a comedy venue on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

This is a developing story.

I need to do what's right for me and my family and that's the decision I'll be making. I'm supposed to be here so this is where I put all my energy and time.

Barr repeatedly said her tweet was meant to address US-Middle Eastern policy and had no racial overtones. I thought she was from Iran.

"That is a political tweet", she explained. And I'm sorry for the misunderstanding that caused my ill-worded tweet, and I'm sorry that you feel harmed and hurt.

She said she had not tried to contact Jarrett to apologize personally because she feared being screamed at on the phone.

Roseanne's tweet was widely criticised online and ABC acted swiftly in cancelling her popular sitcom.

The American network said that the 10-episode series, which has the working title The Conners, will include John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Lecy Goranson (Becky) and Michael Fishman (D.J.).
