The Serbian beat Kei Nishikori 6-3 3-6 6-2 6-2 to reach his first semi-final at any of the four tennis majors since the US Open in 2016. "I've been building the last couple of weeks on the level of tennis I've played in the last couple of months".

Nishikori went a break up immediately in the fourth set, but that was not the start of a comeback as Djokovic reeled off four games on the spin which helped send him into the last four. "I said today is going to be my day".

Novak Djokovic looked back to his best on Wednesday after clinching a spot in yet another Wimbledon semi-final. "You think I ruined the court by tossing the racket two metres behind the baseline?" I get the warning, he doesn't - it's not fair. Early on he was bothered by the glare off the sun, adjusting his serve and then sporting a cap.

Anderson, who reached the U.S. Open final previous year, saved a match point in the third set before recovering to beat the Swiss top seed 2-6 6-7 (5) 7-5 6-4 13-11 after four hours and 14 minutes on Court One. "I feel like I'm peaking at the right moment", said Djokovic, who booked a place in a Grand Slam semi for the first time since the 2016 U.S. Open.

After racing through the first set, Djokovic was handed his first code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct after bouncing his racquet into the grass in frustration at squandering three break points in the third game of the second set. When Nishikori let his own racket fly in the fourth set, he wasn't chastised, which prompted Djokovic to yell "double standards" toward Ramos - drawing boos from fans.

Addressing the issue in the post-match press conference, the 12-time Grand Slam champion said: "To be honest, I thought it was unnecessary to get a warning".

But having got his foothold in the second set, Djokovic's nous and show-court experience shone through, making it 13 wins on the bounce for the Serb against Nishikori.

It is Djokovic's first appearance in the semi-finals at the All England Club since 2015 - when he last won the title - and he revealed his motivation is fully back as he chases Grand Slam title No. 13. I haven't spent too much time on the court. But then the Japanese player, world number four in March past year, survived those four break points early in the second set to level.

He came into the match having won 32 consecutive sets at Wimbledon, a run he stretched to 34 before faltering.
