Apple and Samsung agreed on Wednesday to settle their long-running dispute over design and utility patent-infringement allegations at the US District Court of Northern California in San Jose.

The court filing document, which is available online, states that the plaintiff Apple and defendant Samsung "have agreed to drop and settle their remaining claims and counterclaims in this matter".

I am convinced that the team is going to win tomorrow". "We do not change how we prepare because of what is happening outside". Elsewhere on Tuesday, 1998 champions France take on Denmark in Moscow with top spot in Group C up for grabs.

"Whereas the court has been advised by the parties that the above-entitled action has been settled, all remaining claims and counterclaims in this case are hereby dismissed with prejudice", US District Court Judge Lucy Koh wrote. Check out the filings in full below.

The document doesn't specify the terms of the settlement, so it's unclear if Samsung agreed to pay the $539 million it was supposed to, or if a different agreement was reached.

Apple had alleged that Samsung violated its patents by copying the design of the iPhone.

Neither Samsung nor Apple revealed what the terms of the settlement were. Samsung, predictably, didn't want to pay that much and now it appears the two companies have been able to come to an accord.

This particular dispute has been going on since 2011 when Apple sued Samsung. "We believe deeply in the value of design, and our teams work tirelessly to create innovative products that delight our customers", Apple wrote. "This case has always been about more than money". While Apple scored a major public relations victory with an initial $1 billion verdict in 2012, Samsung also obtained rulings in its favour and avoided an injunction that would have blocked it from selling phones in the United States market, Risch said. It was ordered to pay the U.S. tech giant more than $1 billion for infringing on three of Apple's design patents related to mobile devices - the quick links to phone numbers, the slide-to-unlock feature and the auto-correct function.
