A Portland-based clothing company is responding to a controversial jacket the first lady wore to board a plane to visit migrant children in McAllen on Thursday.

United States first lady Melania Trump walks to her motorcade wearing a Zara design jacket with the phrase "I Really Don't Care".

The White House Director of Communications for FLOTUS, Stephanie Grisham, told Fox News Trump's jacket wasn't meant to send any kind of message.

The message on Trump's jacket sparked outrage and criticism from many who felt the jacket was an indirect message on the immigration crisis.

Trump immigration order may not prevent some family separations
She also ruled that the announced decree would replace one crisis with another: "Children have no place in prison", she said. However, at the 20-day mark, under the Flores consent decree, the department will have to release the children from custody.

The images of Melania Trump sporting the olive green khaki jacket as she boarded a flight to Texas - which immediately went viral - surfaced as the White House struggles to calm global anger over the practice of splitting migrant children from their parents. "After today's important visit to Texas, I hope this isn't what the media is going to choose to focus on", Grisham said. Until that theoretical moment, we have the memes on one of the digisphere's most ideal blank canvases: Her green $39 jacket - one so five seasons ago, no less.

The president's statement seemed at odds with a statement Melania Trump's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, gave earlier in the day.

Tony European labels have been more Mrs. Trump's de rigueur, until Thursday's trip to a Texas center housing some of the more than 2,300 migrant children sent there after their families entered the US illegally.

Her visit to the centre, which houses 55 kids, comes after the POTUS signed an executive order stopping family separation following a massive backlash from celebrities, the media, members of the public and even his own wife by the sounds of things.

Attorneys General Demand An End To Separation Of Immigrant Families
The attorneys' statement joins calls from celebrities , first ladies , and Republican officials to end the policy. Faith leaders of all persuasions, including the leader of Sessions' own church , have denounced the policy.

From I really don't care, to I really do.

Her husband Donald Trump also came to Melania's defence on Twitter, posting: "I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?" written on the back of Melania's jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. "Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she not longer cares!" She added the tags #humanity and #decency, as well as several references in support of immigrant rights.

The first lady herself called for a political compromise to end the stripping of children from their parents - the result of the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy against illegal border crossings, in effect since May.
