Once the most powerful man in Hollywood, disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein surrendered himself to NY police Friday morning, a watershed moment for the Me Too movement catalyzed last fall by the countless women who came forward with sexual harassment and assault allegations against him.

Weinstein was arrested on charges of rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse and sexual misconduct in regards to two separate incidents involving two separate women, according to Deadline.

Weinstein surrendered to police after the Manhattan District Attorney's office and NYPD's months-long investigation into allegations of sexual abuse.

Weinstein arrived at a NY police precinct holding Richard Schickel's biography of the stage and film director Elia Kazan and Todd Purdum's "Something Wonderful: Rodgers and Hammerstein's Broadway Revolution".

Weinstein pleaded not guilty and paid $1 million dollars on bail.

Weinstein has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of a criminal sexual act. "I thank the fearless survivors who have come forward, and my Office's prosecutors who have worked tirelessly on this investigation".

Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Philip Roth Dies at 85
The New York Times reports the cause of death was congestive heart failure, according to a close friend. Roth, however, did not feel comfortable with his reiterated categorization as a Jewish-American writer.

"Mr Weinstein did not invent the casting couch".

Rose McGowan has been one of the most vocal of Harvey's victims; she has accused him of raping her at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. "We urge additional survivors and others with relevant information to call our Sex Crimes Hotline at 212-335-9373", District Attorney Cy Vance said.

Brafman said in a May court filing that federal prosecutors in NY had opened a separate criminal investigation into the allegations. Sivan alleged that more than a decade ago, Weinstein cornered her in the hallway of a NY restaurant and proceeded to masturbate in front of her, while he pleasured himself by a potted plant.

"I'm glad we're finally seeing something that looks like closure", she said, a 55-year-old former film producer, who heads a parenting and education NGO in Los Angeles. "Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances", reads the statement.

The #MeToo movement has seen people around the world come forward with cases of sexual mistreatment, leading to the downfall of powerful men across industries, including Oscar victor Kevin Spacey.

The accusers showed a united front on social media, with Rose making a number of televised appearances to discuss his defeat more than seven months after the allegations first broke.

'Brainstorm or Green Needle?' is the new, even weirder, 'Laurel or Yanny?'
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also pledges her allegiance to Yanny. In a recent Twitter poll, 47% of people heard Yanny while 53% heard Laurel.

"This defendant used his position, money and power to lure young women into situations where he was able to violate them sexually", prosecutor Joan Illuzzi said at Mr Weinstein's arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.

Variety reported that he will not be allowed to leave the states of NY and CT. "We believe that they are not factually supported by the evidence".

NY police previously confirmed another credible rape allegation after "Boardwalk Empire" actress Paz de la Huerta accused the former producer of raping her twice at her NY apartment in late 2010.

While appearing on CNN on Friday, journalist Ronan Farrow, who won a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting on Weinstein's many years of alleged blackmail and sexual misconduct, praised Weinstein's arrest, calling it an "incredible and unexpected moment". Brafman says Weinstein vehemently denies the charges and will fight to get them dismissed.

Weinstein's attorney, Benjamin Brafman, declined to comment when first contacted about the charges late Thursday, but has previously said that Weinstein has consistently denied any allegations of "nonconsensual sex".
