Aurangabad clashes under control, confirms Police

The security has been beefed up in the area to avoid any further violence.

Speaking to DNA, director general of police Satish Mathur said, "The section 144 has not been imposed in the entire city but in the jurisdiction of those police stations where clashes took place last night".

Aurangabad CP Milind Bharambe appealed for peace in the city following the clashes. Meanwhile, at least ten policemen have been injured including three junior officers, the Indian Express reported. To stop rumor mongering, the police has also suspended internet services.

Shahganj, Nawabpura, Rajabazaar and Angribaug were the areas that faced the worst of the violence, but have been calmed down for now.

The police have also warned that strict action will be taken against any person found propagating such information.

The police said the situation has now been brought under control.

In wake of the clash, Asaduddin Owaisi, President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen said his party will provide all the necessary aid.
