NASA is sending a tiny unmanned helicopter to Mars in a mission that could mark the first ever aircraft launch from another planet.

"A remote-controlled helicopter to Mars Helicopter, created to fly in the rarefied atmosphere of the red planet, weighs 1.8 kg and the size of a small ball".

The helicopter will be shuttled to Mars on board a rocket arriving in 2020, but once there it is created to be able to take off autonomously on a series of short flights. Court blocks delay to auto efficiency fines MORE said in a statement.

Due to the atmospheric difference between Earth and Mars, the helicopter will be the equivalent of 100,000 feet in the air at home when it is on the ground on Mars.

Israel strikes 'almost all' Iranian infrastructure sites in Syria
President Donald Trump's announcement on Tuesday about the withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers. " Israel has hit nearly all of Iran's infrastructure in Syria ", Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said Thursday morning.

The "marscopter" will be one of the components of the Mars survey mission scheduled to blast off in July 2020, the United States space agency announced on Friday.

"The idea of a helicopter flying in the sky of another planet is exciting".

The helicopter's twin blades will whirl at about 10 times the rate of a helicopter's blades on Earth - at 3,000 rpm - to stay aloft in Mars' thin atmosphere. The major issue, he said, was that adding Mars Helicopter could disrupt science operations of the main rover during that 30-day test period even as the mission was working to find efficiencies elsewhere to maximize its overall performance.

We have rovers on Mars' surface, and orbiters like the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter floating around the planet, but we don't have anything flying around the surface of Mars right now. NASA hopes the helicopter will ascend to around 10 feet and hover there for around 30 seconds on its first flight. The Mar's helicopter is accompanied with solar cells.

"The altitude record for a helicopter flying here on Earth is about 40,000 feet".

The exploratory mission is scheduled to launch in July 2020.

NASA sees Mars Helicopter as demonstrating the ability of such vehicles to serve as scouts for future rover missions. The copter won't be controllable in real time from Earth, due to the light-speed travel time involved.

The Mars Helicopter is considered a high-risk, high-reward project, according to NASA: If the helicopter fails, it won't affect the rest of the Mars 2020 rover's mission, but if it succeeds, the agency will have a powerful new tool to survey the planet and access now unreachable locations.

Cleveland Cavaliers won't discipline Rodney Hood for refusal to play
Hood was the only player not to play in Game 4, though the Cavs do not view what he did as an act of defiance, a source said . Lloyd notes that Cavs general manager Koby Altman intends to meet with Hood to discuss the matter.

Both projects are considered "high-risk, high-reward" technology demonstrations, meaning that neither of the two missions will be impacted if the CubeSats and the "marscopter" fail.
