To see if custom routines are live for you, just go to the Assistant settings in the Google app, find routines, and there will be a blue FAB to create a new routine.

For those who missed out on the announcement, musician John Legend is also expected to have his voice brought onto Google Assistant later this year, so if you want to feel what it might be like to speak to Legend on a daily basis, this is an update you can look forward to. Jazz players hopeful after 2018 playoffs: 'We'll be back'
But how this Houston season will be remembered hinges largely on the outcome of this series. The Rockets are still getting more home games if this series goes 7 games, though.

Are you excited to get these assistants in Google Assistant? You could argue that they will still be able to harvest voice search data to tailor ads but if I'm looking at screens less, then I won't see them. Increasingly I find myself googling simple things while watching TV (with Amazon's Alexa) and asking quick questions in my auto using my phone - "hey, Siri". Moreover, the smart assistant not only lives within the Google Home devices, but also lives inside the Google app, the latest Android, and Pixel phones. Amazon's new Echo Dot Kids speaker rolled out a similar "Magic Word" feature; when kids say "please" while making a request, Alexa responds with, "By the way, thanks for asking so nicely".

"Clearly he didn't spend all the time in the studio answering every possible question that you could ask", Pichai said.

Google also announced an optional feature that will reward polite kids with replies, such as "Thanks for saying please", "What a nice way to ask me", and "You're very polite". All you have to do is hit tab to keep auto-completing. You just need to surf through menus and order from different places like Applebee's and Starbucks. Nonetheless, for Google Home users, it's a good news. Alexa can also vary the intonation and speaking volume more than Google. In the future, you'll be able to do a lot more, with a lot more things. This includes things like connected blinds, kettles, ovens, refrigerators, fans, air purifiers, coffee makers, and sprinklers. However, all that changes now with the addition of an ability that enables users to create custom routines and also to schedule routines for a specific date or time, which would be rolling out a few months down the line.
