Sensex up 130 points in late morning deals

  • Sensex gains 292 points closes over 35k, Nifty crosses 10700 mark

The Nifty registered day's high and low at 10,758.55 and 10,689.40 points, respectively. Market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, turned negative.

Major gainers were Axis Bank 1.87 per cent, HUL 1.71 per cent, Tata Steel 1.69 per cent, SBI 1.43 per cent and Bajaj Auto 1.35 per cent. "Continued outflow of foreign money will keep rupee on tenterhook while increasing GST collection and RBIs open market operation may soften the volatility".

Sectorally, banks, realty, finance and oil and gas gained the most, with the BSE Bankex settling 1.32% higher.

Comcast prepares all-cash bid to gate-crash Disney-Fox deal
Comcast shares were down 1.5 percent to $31.90, while Disney shares were down 0.5 percent to $102.00. Disney shares fell 1 percent in morning trade in NY , while Comcast's dipped 3.5 percent to $31.25.

On the NSE, the top gainers were ICICI Bank, Hindustan Petroleum and Eicher Motors.

However, capital goods slipped 0.85 percent, consumer durables 0.81 percent, teck 0.57 percent, IT 0.53 percent, auto 0.42 percent, infrastructure 0.19 percent, healthcare 0.18 percent and metal 0.16 percent. Losers included, Lupin, Dr Reddy, TCS, Coal India, Cipla, SunPharma, Tech Mahindra and HDFC Bank.

Broader markets showed a mixed trend.
