  • Lawyer at Trump Tower meeting reportedly worked with Russian government

Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, who met with Trump campaign officials at Trump Tower in 2016 on the premise of gathering dirt on Hillary Clinton, was more deeply connected to the Kremlin than previously known, NBC News reported Friday, citing emails it had uncovered.

Ms. Veselnitskaya also appears to have recanted her earlier denials of Russian government ties.

Moscow's refusal to cooperate led to a $6 million settlement between the DOJ and Katsyv's Prevezon Holding Ltd.

Dossier published screen shots of what it said were emails about the case between Veselnitskaya and Sergei Bochkarev, head of the criminal investigation division of the prosecutor-general's office.

She told the Russian news agency Interfax this week that her email account was hacked this year.

"She said, 'Well, I have a dual role, I'm a private attorney and I'm an informant.' From there on, she backtracked".

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe of ties between the Russian government and the Trump campaign has been investigating the 2016 meeting, which emails show was scheduled by the Trump camp in hopes of obtaining damaging information on Hillary Clinton.

But according to The Times, Veselnitskaya told NBC News in an interview set to air Friday that she had been "actively communicating with the office of the Russian prosecutor general" since 2013.

The Times said that the Russian prosecutor general's office did not respond to requests for comment and that Veselnitskaya said she would respond in two weeks.

In one in a series of emails, she informally addressed a senior prosecutor on Chaika's staff, Sergei A. Bochkaryov, about the Russian government's response.

At least 10 people were taken to area hospitals, one of whom was seriously injured, said a spokeswoman for Essentia Health-St. But she said it's clear people shouldn't be breathing it in and she wonders how it will affect the water and air quality.

Dossier is an arm of exiled tycoon and Kremlin critic Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the onetime oil billionaire who spent a decade in prison on fraud and tax-evasion convictions that were widely seen as retaliation for his political ambitions and opposition to Vladimir Putin.

"I operate independently of any governmental bodies", she told the committee. "I have no relationship with Mr. Chaika, his representatives and his institutions other than those related to my professional functions as a lawyer".

The U.S. intelligence community has concluded that Russian Federation tried to sway the 2016 election in Trump's favor.

It's always been reported that Veselnitskaya - who now claims her emails were hacked, according to her Wednesday interview with Russian news outlet Interfax - wasn't meeting with the Trump campaign to discuss policies surrounding Russian adoption, as the White House previously claimed.
