The agency could fine Facebook up to $40,000 per violation per day-which could add up quickly with millions of users involved-if it finds the social media giant broke its earlier promises to protect user data, they say.

Facebook's data breach scandal sparked a furore in India with Prasad last week warning the firm of "stringent" action for any attempt to influence polls through data theft and threatening to summon Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, if needed.

The change comes in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica data scandal, which saw whistleblower Christopher Wylie claim the British consulting firm had harvested the personal information of 50m Facebook users without their consent via a third party personality app and used to target them with personalised adverts using the 2016 US Presidential election.

Facebook said a new privacy shortcuts menu will allow users to quickly increase account security.

It probably helped that ABC aired back-to-back episodes of the show from 8 to 9 p.m. TV at the moment, Roseanne presents a more varied take on Donald Trump's America.

It questioned whether the company or its related or downstream agencies utilising the data on the social media platform have previously been engaged by any entity "to manipulate the Indian electoral process". This section will thus be where users can go on to delete private information or download their copy.

Instead of having settings spread across almost 20 different screens, they are now gathered in a single place. This would have the effect of making it more hard for third parties to measure how effective their ads are on Facebook, although the report suggested Facebook is "trying to find more secure ways" of achieving the same thing.

Facebook also announced to expand its bug bounty programme where people can report if they find misuses of data by app developers.

Facebook, which is reeling from a scandal over its handling of personal data, on Sunday acknowledged that it had been logging some users' call and text history but said it had done so only when users of the Android operating system had opted in. And the most important thing is tools are provided to use to delete the data it has collected.

They have also called on Facebook to improve its data protections. Users can delete anything from their timeline or profile if they want.

When the man gets home and logs into Facebook, he might see an ad for espresso beans from a Seattle roaster.

Third party apps can sometimes access all data on a Facebook page if allowed. These updates are about transparency - not about gaining new rights to collect, use, or share data. In the coming weeks, we'll be proposing updates to Facebook's terms of service that include our commitments to people.

"I have been examining this service in the context of my wider investigation into the use of personal data for political purposes and had raised it with Facebook as a significant area of concern", she said.
