Consequently, "it would be inappropriate and impossible for Levine to continue to work at the Met", Efe quoted the statement as saying.

Levine was suspended by the Met in December pending the investigation. In his absence, Dallas Opera music director Emmanuel Villaume directed seven Met performances of Puccini's Tosca. He was also music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

The leading U.S. opera house had already suspended Levine in December after allegations first became public against him.

Levine has always been one of the most famous maestros in the world of classical music, and for more than 40 years his career has been entwined with the Met, where he served as music director from 1976-2016.

After taking an nearly two-year health-related hiatus from conducting from 2011 to 2013, Levine retired as the Met's full-time Music Director following the 2015-16 season to become Music Director Emeritus.

It also found that allegations members of the Met's management or its Board of Directors engaged in a cover-up of information relating to Levine's misconduct were "completely unsubstantiated".

It has brought forward the appointment of Levine's successor, youthful French Canadian Yannick Nezet-Seguin, who will become music director with the upcoming season. Days later, another man told The Times that Levine had also abused him when he was in his 20s.

The accusations against Levine reported in The Times went back decades, and shared marked similarities.

Levine, 74, was said by younger musicians to have sexually abused them when they were vulnerable students and he was the charismatic visiting instructor, with most cases dating decades ago.

Ashok Pai said he had been abused by Levine for years, beginning in 1986 near the Ravinia Festival in IL, when he was 16.

Levine has been associated with the Met Opera for more than four decades, stepping down in 2016 as music director.

He said he was reaching out to police in Lake Forest because some of his encounters with Levine took place there in the mid-1980s.

Trump will get his military parade - without the tanks
As planning continues, the memo gave no more details on the type of weaponry to be featured in the parade. The parade Trump was referring to is the Bastille Day parade he attended a year ago in Paris.

The Met said it has "terminated its relationship" with Levine, who retired in 2016 amid failing health but until the scandal had remained a frequent presence as a conductor.
