The National Weather Service issued winter storm warnings for a majority of the state.

As the storm grows stronger winds are expected to pick up and generate sustained speeds of between 20 and 30 miles per hour, potentially even producing gusts of up to 50 miles per hour on the coast Wednesday night. Cempa said snow was expected to increase in intensity overnight. Heavy snow is expected, the warning says, with total snow accumulations of at least 7 to 10 inches in the warning area, with localized amounts here in the Lehigh Valley most likely around 11 inches, with up to 13 inches or more possible. In areas where a mix or rain occurs, there will be a changeover back to snow before the storm departs, and that will likely accumulate to a plowable snow.
