The forecast called for a tapering off of the initial storm Saturday morning, with another winter storm poised to arrive Saturday night, bringing 3 to 5 more inches of snow through Sunday.

Locally, the storm's worst will probably fall on people trying to get to work Friday. This would mean 5 to 7 inches of snow in areas near the Wisconsin-Illinois border, 3 to 5 inches in the Madison area and 1 to 3 inches near Wisconsin Dells. The snow is expected to taper off from west to east by late Friday afternoon.
