Spotify launches standalone app 'Stations' for free playlist listening

The ad-supported app is now only available on the Play Store, and is only available to Android users in Australia.
Spotify's own description of the app indicates that this is an experiment on the company's part, so there is no telling if Stations will see a wider launch outside of Australia. In addition to offering their core streaming service, Spotify seems to be testing an app called "Stations" which will resemble the ad-supported Pandora app in many ways. It also touts the fact that users don't need to search for anything, or type into the app at all. You can reorganize (add or delete) your playlists, but can't create new ones.
The "if you like this, you'll also like this" service has been done numerous times, with the likes of Last.fm and Pandora in the United States being wildly successful.

Bon-Ton identifies stores it plans to close
Bon-Ton President/CEO Bill Tracy said the closures are part of a "comprehensive turnaround plan" the company began in November. Associates at these locations will be offered the opportunity to interview for available positions at other store locations.
It also seems to be unavailable to download in the United Kingdom and US, although reports suggest Australia now has access.
Users log in with a Spotify account and the app automatically plays genre-based radio stations like "jazz" or "indie". Users can't create new playlists within Stations but they can customize which ones appear in the main menu.
It even includes Spotify's popular personalized playlists like Discover Weekly and Release Radar.
Stations, on the other hand, could be a way for Spotify to win over more users on mobile.
The company calls Stations an "experiment" that will help people "listen to great music".
As Spotify claimed, the new Stations app is a pure listening experience and is clearly for those who aren't eager to register for paid membership programs.
We have reached out to Spotify and will update this article if we hear back.
