Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday congratulated Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for successfully launching its 100th satellite from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

In a unique feature, they will be launched in two orbits- 30 of them in a 550km-above-earth orbit, and one in 359km-above. Worldwide customer satellites are three micro and 25 nano-satellites from six countries - Canada, Finland, France, Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

After failure of its last mission, this launch remains tricky as the ISRO will be attempting a two-orbit feat for the second time.

India Friday launched 31 satellites in a single mission from the southern spaceport of Sriharikota.

Manchester United lodge shock bigger bid than Man City for Alexis Sanchez
But on Thursday there's been a huge spanner thrown into the works as Man United and Liverpool have entered the Alexis Sanchez race.

"The 31 spacecrafts, including weather observation Cartosat-2 series satellite, will be launched by PSLV-C40", said ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC) director M. Annadurai. It will also be the first mission after the failure of the PSLV on August 31, 2017, where the heat shield malfunctioned, as a result of which the satellite failed to enter orbit.

Today's mission marked a milestone in ISRO's annals with a micro satellite, among the three Indian spacecraft launched, becoming the 100th to roll out through ISRO Satellite Centre Complex (ISAC).

Today's is the third satellite in the series, after Cartosat-2A and 2B.

The 41st flight had a normal lift-off and everything happened as planned, according to ISRO, but failed to launch due to a glitch in heat-shield separation.

"The PSLV has performed well in the past with several successful launches", said A.S. Kiran Kumar, ISRO's chairman, in a story published by the Bangalore Mirror.

The mission control had fired the engines to restart the fourth stage for lowering the rocket to deploy the micro satellite in its intended orbit.

The Cartosat-2, whose imagery will be used to develop various land and geographical information system applications, was placed in a circular polar sun synchronous orbit 505 km from the Earth. "We are coming to the launch pad after four months".
