  • Cleveland Indians Jay Bruce answers questions after Game 1 of baseball's American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians Thursday Oct. 5 2017 in Cleveland. The Indians won 4-0

The 30-year-old is coming off another productive season during which he hit.254/.324/.508 with 36 homers and 101 RBI in 146 games.

He's expected to bat in the middle of the Mets' lineup. Bruce also offers a possible option at first base if touted prospect Dominic Smith struggles again. If Conforto is not ready for the start of the 2018 season, Juan Lagares, one of the best defensive center fielders in baseball, would patrol the territory in front of the Home Run Apple at Citi Field. Bruce's deal is for three years, $39 million, The Post's Mike Puma confirmed.

'Fire and Fury' book sales top 29000 in first weekend
BookScan, which tracks about 85 percent of the retail market, only counts an order as a sale once the book has been shipped. The publisher has come under criticism for not printing more copies in advance of the release date.

Mets fans have been clamouring for the team to spend some money to improve the club following its fourth-place finish in the NL East.

Bruce has spent parts of the last two years with NY, with the team having dealt him to the Cleveland Indians last August. The trade, however, was ultimately nixed by a higher up in the NY organization - likely over concerns regarding Kipnis' contract.
